Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health Confirms Hemorrhagic Fever Outbreak in Jinka

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Health has confirmed an outbreak of hemorrhagic fever in Jinka, South Ethiopia Regional State, with eight suspected cases reported. A rapid response team has been deployed to conduct epidemiological investigations, laboratory testing, and implement control measures.
The Ministry is coordinating comprehensive surveillance and response activities, including community monitoring, contact tracing, and active case detection. The specific type of hemorrhagic fever remains undetermined, and laboratory analyses are underway.
Residents are advised to seek immediate medical attention for symptoms such as unexplained bleeding, fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, while adhering to strict hygiene practices. Health facilities in the region have been instructed to enhance screening procedures, isolate suspected cases, and report new infections promptly.
