MSF Warns of Escalating Drone Strikes Impeding Humanitarian Access in North Darfur

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has raised alarm over increasing drone strikes in Kornoi, Tine, and Um Baru, North Darfur, leading to significant civilian displacement towards Chad. A strike on Kornoi Hospital on November 3 resulted in fatalities and injuries among patients, including children and pregnant women.
Since October 24, MSF teams in Tine, Chad, have treated 50 individuals wounded in these drone attacks. The escalation of hostilities has forced MSF to temporarily suspend some medical operations due to security concerns.
“MSF is deeply concerned about the impact of drone strikes on civilians and humanitarian access. Attacks on healthcare facilities endanger lives and threaten the few remaining health services,” stated Dago Inagbe, MSF Coordinator for North Darfur.
MSF is working to restore medical support as conditions allow but warns that ongoing strikes severely limit humanitarian access and essential care delivery. The organization calls for strict adherence to international humanitarian law to protect medical facilities, patients, and humanitarian workers.
