A tragic plane crash in Kenya’s coastal Kwale region has resulted in the deaths of eleven individuals, primarily foreign tourists. The light aircraft, operated by Mombasa Air Safari, was en route to the Maasai Mara National Reserve when it went down.
The airline confirmed that the flight carried eight Hungarian tourists, two German nationals, and a Kenyan pilot—all of whom were killed in the incident. “There are no survivors,” stated Mombasa Air Safari. Local authorities have indicated that heavy rainfall was present in the area at the time of the crash.

The Civil Aviation Authority reported that the accident occurred near the Indian Ocean coast at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time (05:30 GMT). A regional police official informed the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation that all passengers were tourists.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion, and the aircraft was found in a hilly, forested area about 40 kilometers from Diani Airstrip. The wreckage was severely burned, complicating the identification of the victims.
Kwale County Commissioner Stephen Orinde confirmed to The Associated Press that aviation authorities and investigative teams are currently working to ascertain the cause of the crash.
