Ethiopia’s Parliament: Joint Session of the House of Federation and House of Peoples’ Representatives to Convene on Monday

The joint session of the House of Peoples’ Representatives and the House of Federation will officially commence today.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the opening of the two Houses is scheduled for the last Monday of the first month of the Ethiopian calendar year.
President Taye Atske Selassie is anticipated to address the joint session, outlining the government’s key policy directions and priorities for the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year across various sectors.
The opening ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, his cabinet, ambassadors, representatives of international organizations, religious leaders, prominent national figures, and other invited guests.
